Here are just a few of the kids we are sponsoring in Axum, Ethiopia.
Ethiopia has one of the largest populations of orphans in the world. Thirteen percent of children throughout the country are missing one or both parents. This represents an estimated 4.6 million children. In the city of Axum, located in Northern Ethiopia with a population of 45,000, there are over 1,000 orphans living on the streets.
Our goal is to give every street orphan in Axum the opportunity to get off the streets, be cared for by a family, and continue their education. The best way to help these children is to place them in the home of an extended family member like an aunt, uncle, grandparent or other sibling. In most cases, these homes exist, but the families do not have the resources to care for additional children.
With a small monthly financial gift to these homes, they can care for the child and integrate them into a family unit. They are provided with a bed on which to sleep and clothing as they grow. They get regular, simple, but healthy meals. Additionally, they are given the tools and resources they need to go to school.
The program started in 2009 with 30 children who had viable homes and who agreed to work hard in school. Our representatives in Axum follow up with each family carefully to ensure that the goals of the program are met and that the money is being well-spent. Not only does this sponsorship help the child who has been rescued from the streets, it also has the added effect of caring for the entire family. We are currently sponsoring 82 children and are working towards having at least 100 kids in viable homes by the end of this summer (2011).
Our goal is to eliminate the problem of street orphans in Axum.
The cost to provide this assistance is only $40 per month.
Because we take your contributions seriously, money is administered by Mosaic Global Mission and representatives on the ground in Axum. Families are routinely evaluated to ensure they are complying with the program.

Mascia Law Firm is dedicated to using a portion of their profits to help make the world a better place. Each month, they are sponsoring 1 child in Axum for every 2 clients. They are currently sponsoring 50 children in Axum and will continue to increase that amount as their client base grows. The support comes out of their gross revenue and they do not charge their clients anything extra to make this program happen.
