Update:
Since our last update at the beginning of August, we as a family graduated from The Masters Mission. We had such a blessed year and have learned so much. We know that God has given us the best possible preparation for the next step in our story with him and we’re ready!
Over the last year, we as a family really felt that God was calling us to serve in Axum Ethiopia with Mosaic Global Mission. We felt excitement and peace as we made that decision.
At the end of September we had the opportunity to visit Axum. The people of Ethiopia are very friendly with a great work ethic and an extremely committed belief in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (Catholicism mixed with Judaism).
We had the opportunity to visit some of the projects and meet the people who have benefited from the support of Mosaic. Currently we are supporting 100 previously homeless children and family’s, providing money for school, food and housing. Our goal is to support the remaining 900 orphans and such, remaining in Axum. We are encouraged by the work going on and excited about expanding it and sharing the powerful gospel message with these wonderful people.
We also visited the water project and saw the incredible work that the city has already done. We met with the city water planner and are on schedule to give every individual in Axum access to fresh clean water. We hope this can be accomplished some time in 2012. Giving the people of Axum access to clean water will have a very large and immediate impact on the healthiness of the population. (Half of the people visiting the doctor in Axum have water born illnesses that clean water will help put an end to). We also have some opportunities to work, support and develop a local school/university and Invest in Axum’s hospital; both of these opportunities require much practical support.
It was incredible to watch India our 2 year old, take to Axum like a duck to water, I think for all of us it’s a place we can already see as calling home. We loved spending time with the young people, getting to know them and their stories was a blessing. We can’t wait to see them again and really invest in their lives and the lives of their family’s. Our hope is to move there permanently February 2012 but much needs to happen before then, which you can be apart of

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Please pray for us as we raise our support that God would supply our needs and that the visa process would run smoothly. Pray also for good health and direction/vision as we make our preparations. That God would go before us and prepare the hearts of the people in the city and that he would continue to mold us for his service there. Finally, that we would enjoy and grasp the language (Tigrinya) before our arrival.
